Naga stories

My home town Sonari is on the Nagaland border…that’s why we, the Sonari people, got chances in interacting with the Naga people. By nature, Naga tribes are the most straight forward and one time understood people…means when they understand some thing, rightly or wrongly, no body can change their concept. They are very much committed also. If they promise you for the good friendship, they will keep it challenging their lives also. But when they find some thing wrong with your motive, then they may not think for you for the second time in their lives. So far I am concerned with them, Naga people are just like that….Do means do, Die means die.

Few years back, somewhere, I read one article about the controversial and most powerful fight of the Naga terrorists with the Central Government of India….that is The National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM). In that article, it was written clearly that why Thuingaleng Muivah, the General Secretary, and Isak Chisi Swu, Chairman of the NSCN-IM challenged the Central Government for the independent Nagaland…it was only because of one punch of Nehru on the table on which Isak Muivah were discussing with him about the demands they placed in front of him in support of their independent region. But Nehru replied them with that PUNCH on the table for which Isak Muivah also challenged him in return continuing the terrorism full fledged in their region. Only because of that single Punch of Nehru, terrorism hit Nagaland for which 599 civilians, 235 security forces, and 862 terrorists have lost their lives between 1992 and 2000, according to the Government officials. Later on the whole matter was settled down with the ceasefire agreement which was signed between the government of India and the NSCN-IM, which had received widespread approval and support in Nagaland, on the 14th June, 2001. Terrorist outfits such as the Naga National Council-Federal (NNC-F) and the National Council of Nagaland-Khaplang (NSCN-K) also welcomed the development.

Any way, whatever be the reason for their terrorism, it is settled down to some extend in their own way. This blog carries some interesting stories of Naga people which we experienced at our home town. From Sonari to Tizit, Nagaland, it is only half an hour journey. So we people often arranged our picnics at some beautiful places in Nagaland…which are God gifted to them. One day, on the road to the picnic spot, some people had an accident. Due to that accident, one chicken was dead at the spot. Immediately, the Naga people came in a group and captured those who did that accident. They sat for the solution of the accident for which they had a very big loss, according to them. Those, for whom the accident was happened got quite surprised about it…because it was a matter of one chicken only. But the Naga people argued that from that single chicken, lots of eggs might be laid by it. From those eggs, again lots of chickens might be grown up from which again lots of eggs might be laid from which………

Finally they charged the price of the total eggs and chickens for the next 5 generations which the accident people bounded to pay them. Because for them, there were no other options to get rescued from them.

On some other day, one Naga person came to Sonari to buy one colored TV. The shopkeeper showed every thing very clearly so that he might not face any problem with it. But on the next day, the Naga person came with a group of Naga people along with the TV which did not work at his home. The sales man again checked every thing properly…it was OK with it. The TV worked smoothly at the store…but the Naga person charged that it did not work at his home, because they cheated him. He did accordingly what the sales man taught him..but still it did not work. Why????

Finally the shop keeper came to the Naga person….he asked one by one which should be done while operating the TV. The Naga person followed appropriately every step…..from placing it properly on the table to switching on the proper button of the remote control. He did every thing correctly…then what might be the problem????

Ultimately, the shopkeeper asked him whether he plugged the point on the switch board or not and whether he switched on the electric point or not????? The Naga person replied that NO…..there was no electricity in their home, so how could he switch on the point!!!!!

One day, one Naga patient came to a doctor with the complaint that his loo got divided when he did the task. He could not understand why his loo got divided into equal parts…..he was suffering from several days of this dividend disease. The doctor was also got tensed about this type of rare disease which he never studied in his medical books. He thought that some operations might had to be done for its treatment…he checked his Bumps where he found the ultimate treatment and the cause of the disease also. Naga people generally use one small cloth by which they try to cover their bumps…but with that small cloth only the middle portion of their bumps get covered. Due to that small cloth, the loo of the Naga patient got divided which made a serious problem for him….just think of it!!!!!!

Apart from that funny incidents which we experienced at that time, I can say that Naga people are the most trusted people whom you can rely on and with whom you can share your feelings…..if you get chance just go with them.
